The Singer Tavern Wedding • St Mary's Church Angel • London Islington • Marianna and Freddie
English weather is always a talking point, and wow, did this wedding day start with a crazy bit of torrential rain! I started with Freddie and the first thing he did was find me a towel - I was soaked! Needless to say, after joking around and having a laugh we got stuck into getting ready shots. They had decorated their bedroom in time to use it for these photos! And yep, it was perfect light for beautiful natural shots of Freddie getting his custom suit on!
After leaving Freddie I headed over to Marianna at her brother's flat, the large rain-kissed windows provided the perfect canvas for capturing the moments of Marianna's prep. It honestly makes such a difference having beautiful light - it really should be a priority whilst planning because it can make or break the photos. After getting into her dress we hailed down a taxi and headed to the church.
St. Mary's Church in Angel stands out in my memory as the best church I have ever shot at. The play of light within the space was simply breathtaking. It provided a perfect backdrop for capturing the ceremony, and was simply a photographers dream! In churches I always make sure to remain respectful and don’t get too close to the action, St Mary’s was perfect for this with its space, making me able to move around without drawing attention.
After the ceremony, we hopped onto a red bus to The Singer Tavern, a transport I love - it really gets the party going and keeps your guests together and happy! Luckily, the rain took a brief hiatus, allowing us to quickly go for a walk around the area to capture Marianna and Freddie's couple photos against the cityscape before it started pouring again. It was perfect timing as it literally started raining as we finished, which allowed for beautiful running shots towards The Singer Tavern!
The interior of The Singer Tavern has a dark and moody aesthetic, beautifully candlelit and cozy. It became a perfect fit for Marianna and Freddie's unique vibe, which included a Beatles theme! Speeches provided tears and laughter and lead nicely into the cocktail hour downstairs which added a unique twist to the celebration with a couple quiz! Cocktails flowed and the festivities moved into full swing.
Moving back upstairs to the dance floor, everyone was ready to dance, and it came alive with favorite moves (mainly Freddie’s!). Marianna and Freddie, along with their guests, created a dancefloor filled with joy, laughter, and celebration. What a day and what a night!
