Summerhill House Wedding • Ireland Wedding Photographer • Classic Wedding Photography • Alison and Niall
What more of a perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit than to have a Christmas wedding? I flew to Dublin to capture this gorgeous pairs’ wedding day.
Starting off with a good cup of tea from Alison’s dad and having a chat whilst everyone finished breakfast, it’s always so nice to take a moment and be a person rather than just a photographer. Having some time getting to know families is so important – it then means that when I pick up the camera, people are more comfortable with me!
The getting ready went smoothly, lots of laughs to be had as well as nerves bubbling under the smiles. Heading out to the family Church I headed off just before Alison in order to be there for her arrival. I could also say hi to Niall and capture some of his excited/nervous looks! And let me tell you they had quite a crowd! The ceremony was beautiful, with live songs played by a guitarist and singer, the massive Christmas tree towered over the couple as their friends and family delivered readings and prayers. After the vows, they then greeted everyone down the aisle before heading off for the family portraits.
Alison and Niall decided to go to a separate location for their couple and family shots which I always think is fab! We jumped in the cars and headed towards the coast to Dalkey to get a misty romantic images over-looking the sea. Then for the best bit, we went to the Druid's Chair pub! They organised a pub stop with their family to have a quick drink and sandwich together as a smaller group before heading to Summerhill House Hotel.
The set up was fab, they had the whole ground floor to themselves, which meant there were different areas for their guests to hang out. Drinks flowed, speeches were informal and set up in one of the reception rooms with everyone crowded around. The meal was around a big central oval table and lead into a few more speeches (always great to spread out speeches if you have a few!) The craic carried on through the night and onto the dancefloor as we all danced together. It was just such a fun, relaxed day and such a fab way of getting into the holiday spirit and start the celebrations. Their Christmases will always be even more special now with their anniversary leading into it!
